The film Metropolis tells the story of a futuristic city that has split into two parts. The workers’ houses are located underground, with the production shops above. There, one can also see rich neighborhoods teeming with luxury houses, offices, and pleasure gardens. Johann Fredersen is a magnate who enjoys absolute power in this city.
However, his son Freder suspects that what is happening is unfair and inhumane. He goes down to the underground to confirm his guesses. He is gripped by horror at the sight of the sinister Moloch, eating people. The character can no longer stand by, because the spectacle left him with the strongest impressions. He seeks to overcome this evil.
